Every eight years, cities and large district towns have to determine the top post in the town hall. Clear winners do not always emerge from the first ballot. This Sunday there are voting booths in three cities.
Lörrach (dpa / lsw) – It’s a bit like a small election Sunday: In three larger municipalities in the state, people have to decide who will be allowed to lead their political fortunes as mayor in the coming years. In the district town of Lörrach, three candidates are up for election today, including the non-party incumbent Jörg Lutz. In Remseck (Ludwigsburg district), Dirk Schönberger again ran for the post at the top of the town hall, the school social worker Martin Keim (both independent) would also like to win the election in the municipality with 26,600 inhabitants.
In Vaihingen an der Enz (Ludwigsburg district), four candidates are hoping for victory, including a former Daimler manager, a mechanical engineer and a mayor. However, the non-party incumbent Mayor Gerd Maisch is no longer there. After two terms in office, he had drawn the consequences from the increasingly rough social climate and hostilities towards himself and his team and had not entered the race again in the city of 30,000 inhabitants.
The term of office of the mayor is eight years.
