Mühlhausen (dpa / lsw) – Five people grilled in their apartment in Mühlhausen (Rhein-Neckar district) and poisoned themselves with the smoke. As a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday, the entire family had been taken to a hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning as a precaution. Nobody was in mortal danger.
According to the police, those affected had fired up a charcoal grill in the apartment of a two-family house on Tuesday evening. It was initially unclear who had alerted the rescue workers. There was no property damage.
The police pointed out that grilling with charcoal indoors is life-threatening: “Never use charcoal grills in closed rooms.”
