Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The pressure from sick corona patients in the clinics continues to decrease. For the first time since the beginning of July, the number of people treated in the intensive care units in Baden-Württemberg has fallen below the 100 mark for two consecutive days, according to the management report of the State Health Office (LGA) on Thursday. According to this, there were 85 patients in the intensive care units, 20 fewer than a week ago and one fewer than on Wednesday. The number of people with Corona in the normal wards also fell within a week from 1312 in the previous week to 1278 on Thursday.
The nationwide seven-day incidence also fell by 87 to 225 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a weekly comparison. On Wednesday it was 230.3.
However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
In total, 16,841 people have died from the coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic and up to Thursday, 11 more than on Wednesday.
