Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The state manager of the Verkehrsclub VCD, Matthias Lieb, doesn’t think much of the idea of ??opening first class on trains to all passengers due to the rush for the 9-euro ticket. “The Left Party is also propagating that, but we take a critical view of it,” Lieb told the Stuttgarter Zeitung. The passengers in the first class would not travel for 9 euros. “They pay the higher fare so that they have more space and more peace and quiet.” If no one is sitting in first class, this could perhaps be an emergency solution.

With the campaign ticket, passengers can use local public transport throughout Germany for a month in June, July and August. At Pentecost, shortly after the start of the 9-euro ticket, many trains were so full that passengers could no longer get on or at least not take their bikes with them. In the opinion of Linke boss Janine Wissler, the train should open first class to all passengers in overcrowded trains.

Lieb said the rush is focused on the fast IRE connections. “I advise looking for parallel regional trains,” he emphasized. “You may be on the road longer, but you usually have a seat and you can also take your bike with you.”
