Working as a therapist, getting paid as an intern – that’s not possible, says the Verdi union and is calling for a warning strike for a small group of university hospital employees.
Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – With warning strikes, the Verdi union wants to achieve fair working conditions for psychological psychotherapists in training. According to the union, there should be all-day campaigns at the university clinics in Baden-Württemberg in Freiburg, Heidelberg, Ulm and Tübingen throughout the week. A bike parade is planned for Freiburg on Thursday (11:00 a.m.).
According to the union, there are around 120 psychological psychotherapists in training (PiA) at the four university clinics in the state who work in child and adolescent psychiatry, general psychiatry and psychosomatics. The university graduates carried out therapies independently. Nevertheless, they would not be paid according to the collective agreement of the university hospitals, but would be fobbed off with a “intern’s wage” of around 1,000 euros gross per month.
Verdi demands a classification in the corresponding wage group. Negotiations with the employers have so far been unsuccessful.
