Starzach (dpa / lsw) – A week after escaping from an enclosure in Starzach in the Tübingen district, wallaby Hailey has still not returned. The animal had been spotted four times in the area but could not be caught, said the owner of a stud farm on whose premises three of the mini-kangaroos, which are particularly native to Australia, live on Thursday. Presumably, the nearby Neckar makes it difficult for the herd animal to return to its fellows. Animal rights activists tried to lure and capture the marsupial with treats such as nuts and fruit. Another wallaby, who, like three-year-old Hailey, had dug under a fence, had found its way home on its own. Other media had previously reported on the animal’s escape from the property in the Tübingen district.
