Ettlingen (dpa / lsw) – In a head-on collision in a tunnel in Ettlingen (Karlsruhe district) on Monday, a woman was trapped in her car and seriously injured. She had to be cut free by the fire department. Two men were also injured and taken to a hospital like the woman, a police spokesman said.
According to initial findings, one of the men drove his car off the road and collided with an oncoming vehicle. The van was thrown against the tunnel wall by the force of the impact. The car that had strayed from the lane then collided head-on with the woman’s car.
The two-lane Wattkopf tunnel in the south of Karlsruhe was closed in both directions for the duration of the rescue work on Monday evening. Detours have been set up. The extent of the damage caused to the vehicles and the tunnel wall could not initially be quantified.
