Nuremberg (dpa / lby) – 1. FC Nuremberg signed a defender immediately before the derby against SpVgg Greuther Fürth. After Asger Sörensen’s surprising move to Sparta Prague, the second division soccer team brought in James Lawrence, who last played for FC St. Pauli in the second division. The 29-year-old Welshman played for Arsenal and Ajax Amsterdam in his youth and has international experience.
“The departure of Asger Sörensen to Sparta Prague created a gap in our central defense that we had to close. We are very happy that we were able to sign a quick and, above all, good solution with James. He is a player with a lot Experience that can help us immediately,” said sports director Dieter Hecking in the FCN announcement on Friday evening. At the “Club” Lawrence will appear with shirt number four.
