Nuremberg (dpa / lby) – Second division football club 1. FC Nuremberg is pushing ahead with its stadium project. Stefan Heim, former board member of VfB Stuttgart, will become head of the stadium development department on July 1st. “In this function, he will further develop the vision of transforming the home ground of 1. FC Nuremberg into an innovative and connecting lighthouse in the Nuremberg metropolitan region,” said FCN on Wednesday.

“With the creation of the new stadium development department, we are underlining that we are continuing to strategically push the issue of new stadium construction and want to be an important long-term source of inspiration for the realization of our specific vision,” said Niels Rossow, CEO of 1. FC Nürnberg.

Heim (51) worked for VfB Stuttgart for 28 years, most recently as a director of finance and administration

In January, the city of Nuremberg commissioned a feasibility study for a new venue. The city council will vote on this in 2023. A new building could then be launched in the next few years.
