Munich (dpa / lby) – TSV 1860 Munich surprisingly lost the Bavarian-Franconian duel with SpVgg Bayreuth and did not use the mistake of leader Elversberg. The “Lions” lost to the bottom of the table from Upper Franconia 0:1 (0:1) when they met many old acquaintances on Saturday. Jann George (41st minute) scored the only goal of the afternoon.
Munich remain second in the 3rd football division, but could have drawn level with the Saarlanders thanks to the draw by leader Elversberg. Especially in the first half, the ambitious Bayern Munich team were mostly harmless in front of the Bayreuth goal. The Franconians rewarded themselves with a courageous performance, celebrated their third win of the season and left the bottom of the table.
“We played too blandly in the build-up game. We were inadequate there,” complained 1860 coach Michael Köllner at Magenta Sport. “We were superior in the second half, but that wasn’t enough in the end.”
