Munich (dpa / lby) – A man with an injured leg was discovered in an S-Bahn tunnel near Munich Central Station and then given medical attention. The 31-year-old was seen by an S-Bahn driver who informed the control center, as the federal police announced on Monday. The driver of a subsequent S-Bahn then stopped in the tunnel between the Hackerbrücke and Hauptbahnhof stops to help the man. However, due to the injury, the 31-year-old was unable to exit the tunnel with the help of the driver. He could therefore not communicate in German and, according to initial investigations, had not previously been caught by an S-Bahn.
A doctor on board the stationary S-Bahn provided first aid until the emergency services arrived at the incident on Sunday. There were 220 passengers on the train. The route was closed for an hour. It is not yet known why the man was in the tunnel. He is now under investigation.
