Trostberg (dpa / lby) – Police divers have recovered the body of a previously missing man from the Alz Canal in Trostberg (Traunstein district) in Upper Bavaria. The 64-year-old had been reported missing since Wednesday. As the police announced on Thursday, investigations are now being carried out in all directions. It is not yet known whether the man was a victim of a crime or whether he died in an accident. Officials cannot rule out anything at this point, a spokesman said.

The 64-year-old is said to have been walking with a friend on Wednesday. After the senior was reported missing to the police, the emergency services searched the canal and the surrounding forest and open spaces – around 120 rescue workers were involved in the search.

The investigations into the cause of death have now been taken over by the public prosecutor’s office in Traunstein and the criminal police inspectorate.
