Munich (dpa / lby) – The Bavarian state government has given the green light for a merger of the German Heart Center (DHM) in Munich with the Klinikum Rechts der Isar (MRI). The merger to form the clinic of the Technical University of Munich (TUM-Klinikum) is intended to bring new opportunities and perspectives for cutting-edge medicine in the Bavarian state capital, said Science Minister Markus Blume (CSU) on Tuesday after a cabinet meeting in Munich. He emphasized that there would be no job cuts and no worsening of staff positions.

“The planned merger of the internationally renowned Klinikum Rechts der Isar (MRI) and the renowned DHM offers the opportunity to develop a joint medical strategy and to further strengthen the excellence of both institutions,” said Blume. The services of the two leading institutions would complement each other.
