Freihung (dpa/lby) – Four young people and one adult were seriously injured in a car accident in the Upper Palatinate. A 13-year-old child was in mortal danger and had to be flown to the hospital by helicopter, the police said. The 33-year-old driver had skidded in a curve near Freihung (Amberg-Sulzbach district) and crashed into a bridge pier. In addition to him and the critically injured child, three other young people aged 12, 13 and 17 were in the car. Whether the driver was the father was initially unclear, as was the cause of the accident. The road around the accident site was closed for several hours.
