Munich (dpa / lby) – The journalism school of the Catholic Church will be given a new management at the beginning of June 2023. Isolde Fugunt for the journalistic and Stefanie Strobel for the spiritual area will then lead the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists (ifp) in Munich, the German Bishops’ Conference announced. The permanent council of the body confirmed the personal details on Monday. Fugunt, who has been working at the journalism school since 2006, succeeds Bernhard Remmers, who will retire in May 2023.

The ifp, as a Catholic school for journalism, offers, among other things, traineeships, scholarships for journalism training alongside studies, as well as courses for trainees and further training for journalists. The facility is supported by a private church association. The members include the archbishoprics of Berlin and Munich-Freising as well as the dioceses of Osnabrück and Speyer.
