Meinheim (dpa / lby) – When painting a palette in a barn in Middle Franconia, two children probably unintentionally started a fire. The 11 and 12-year-old children allegedly wanted to test whether the paint can worked and held a lit lighter in front of the spray can, police said on Thursday. This resulted in a jet of flame, which ignited the hay stored in the barn in Meinheim (Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district). According to the police, the parents discovered the fire in good time before major damage occurred. Together with neighbors, they were able to extinguish the fire before the fire brigade arrived. The children were unharmed in Wednesday night’s incident.
