Munich (dpa / lby) – A passenger tried to smuggle 10,000 cigarettes past customs at Munich Airport. As the main customs office in Munich announced on Thursday, the 55-year-old went to the green exit for goods that do not need to be declared at the airport at the weekend when customs officials asked the man for a check. In his two suitcases they discovered 50 packs of 200 cigarettes each. “This is an unusually high amount and certainly not everyday,” said a spokesman for the main customs office in Munich. Criminal proceedings are now being initiated against the alleged smuggler.
