Mittenwald (dpa / lby) – A dog was left in Upper Bavaria by its master in the sun in the car and, according to the police, died from the heat. The older man went hiking in Mittenwald (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district), said a police spokesman on Tuesday. The 88-year-old parked the car on Sunday in the village’s station forecourt and left a window open for the animal.
While the sun was heating up the vehicle, a tourist noticed the suffering mongrel and called the police. An officer smashed the car window to free the animal. The dog initially gave weak signs of life, but then died during the rescue. The owner is being investigated for violating the Animal Welfare Act.
