Eggolsheim (dpa / lby) – In a nature reserve in southern Upper Franconia, unknown persons have damaged a stream with excavators. The affected Eggerbach near Eggolsheim (Forchheim district) is an important habitat for animals and plants and is strictly protected by EU law, said the Bund Naturschutz and the Landesbund für Vogelschutz on Monday. The body of water was destroyed over a length of about 25 meters by dredging. The unknown perpetrators were reported.
At the end of November, unauthorized dredging work on the strictly protected Rappenalpbach near Oberstdorf (Oberallgäu district) caused a stir. According to the Federal Nature Conservation and the District Office, the torrent had been largely destroyed over a length of around 1.6 kilometers. The police then searched the suspect’s apartment and prepared for a lengthy investigation. The case dealt with the state parliament in Munich.
