Munich (dpa / lby) – Because of the drug scandal in the Munich police, an official has to answer again from Tuesday (9:00 a.m.) before the district court. He is accused of buying and using cocaine from another police officer in April 2019. The public prosecutor’s office had initially issued a penalty order, which the man contradicted, so that the trial is now taking place.

In addition, the official is charged because he is said to have covered the misconduct of a colleague. He learned how the policeman used a lie to ensure that a man was wrongly placed in a psychiatric hospital. The case is believed to have happened in February 2017. The other police officer has not yet had to answer in court.

The drug scandal shook the police headquarters in Munich in 2020. The public prosecutor’s office conducted 39 investigations against 37 police officers and brought eight charges so far. In February, for the first time, an officer who had acquired and resold drugs was sentenced to imprisonment. Other officers were sentenced to fines and drug therapy. The last verdict for the time being was a fine against a police officer at the end of April.
