Patersdorf (dpa / lby) – A group of five motorcyclists was in a chase with the police in Lower Bavaria at up to 220 kilometers per hour. Four of the men between the ages of 23 and 54 were stopped by the police and one was able to escape, the police said on Sunday. One officer was injured in the arm during the operation.

The group was noticed by the officials on Sunday when they wanted to check one of the men near Patersdorf (Regen district). When the group became aware of the police officers, they accelerated and fled on the B86 in the direction of Passau, it was said.

The officials only managed to stop at least three men from the group with the help of a roadblock. However, the other two were able to bypass the barrier and initially continued their journey at high speed. One of the two surrendered to the police after being asked again. The other first indicated that he was about to stop, then abruptly accelerated, passing close to the policeman. The police officer suffered minor injuries in the arm. The fugitive motorcyclist is currently being sought. The police are currently investigating suspected illegal vehicle racing.
