Munich (dpa / lby) – After the heavy rainfall in the past few days, some rivers in northern Bavaria have swollen. Flood notification levels 1 and 2 were occasionally exceeded, the Bavarian flood intelligence service (HND) announced on Thursday. This can lead to flooding on agricultural land or side roads.

The water management office in Kronach warned that overflows and flooding in the Bamberg region are to be expected. At the Rauhe Ebrach tributary to the Regnitz, reporting level 3 could even be reached, it said. At this level, built-up areas can also be flooded.

Due to the persistent precipitation, according to the HND, small bodies of water can also overflow locally on the northern Danube tributaries.

According to the German weather service, there will be more rain in many parts of Bavaria in the coming days. The HND therefore expects that the risk of flooding will remain over the weekend and will probably spread to other bodies of water.
