Roth (dpa / lby) – Triathlon star Jan Frodeno (40) is making his long-awaited comeback at Challenge Roth after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury. The long-awaited showdown with defending champion Patrick Lange (35) should drive the three-time Ironman world champion to peak performance today. “It motivates me extremely to compete against him,” said Frodeno before the long-distance classic.

Last year’s winner Anne Haug is the favorite for the women. The 39-year-old from Bayreuth is the first and so far only German woman to win in Hawaii.

3.8 kilometers of swimming, 180 kilometers of cycling and 42.195 kilometers of running have to be completed. This time there are also spectators along the route. A total of around 3,200 athletes and 600 relay teams will start.
