Fürth (dpa / lby) – SpVgg Greuther Fürth has to turn the tide in the 2nd Bundesliga without left-back Jetro Willems. The game association has terminated the contract with the 28-year-old “by mutual agreement”, as coach Marc Schneider announced before the home game against FC St. Pauli on Saturday (1 p.m.).
“We know that he’s got everything in football. In the end, the situation didn’t work out,” the Swiss continued. Willems only moved to Fürth last season. His contract actually ran until the summer of 2023.
After six matchdays, the Franconian Bundesliga relegated is under a lot of pressure as the penultimate. “I am very optimistic that the turning point will succeed. The boys want to and the boys will bring everything to the pitch,” announced Schneider.
The people of Fürth are hoping for a push for the entire team from newcomer Damian Michalski. “Damian comes from the leaders of the Polish league. He has had a lot of success in the last few weeks. That helps us,” said Schweizer.
