Fürth (dpa / lby) – The Fürth City Theater will have a new director next year. The city announced on Monday that Silvia Stolz would take over from the long-standing artistic director Werner Müller in November 2023. He then retires after 33 years as head of the theater. Stolz has been director and managing director of the Stadeum culture and conference center in Stade, Lower Saxony, since 2018 and, according to the city, prevailed against 35 candidates in the selection process, which lasted almost a year.

According to the city of Munich, Stolz, who was born in 1980, studied dramaturgy, theater studies and psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University and the August Everding Theater Academy. She then completed further training as a cultural manager at the University of Hanover. After productions at theaters in Munich, engagements as a dramaturge followed, among others in the festival management of the Bavarian Theater Days at the Theater Ingolstadt and at the Landestheater Schwaben in Memmingen.
