Steinberg am Rofan (dpa / lby) – A 44-year-old climber fell about 20 meters deep on Sunday afternoon in Steinberg am Rofan in the Tyrolean district of Schwaz. He suffered serious injuries, as the Austrian news agency APA reported on Monday. According to the information, the man from Germany fell over vertical rocky terrain. According to the police, he was with a compatriot of the same age in the “Guffertstein” alpine climbing garden when the end of the rope slipped through the safety device while abseiling. The companion of the casualty rendered first aid and informed the rescue services. The 44-year-old was flown to the Upper Bavarian hospital in Agatharied (Miesbach district) by rescue helicopter.
