Würzburg/Geldersheim (dpa/lby) – The GPS tracker in a couple’s suitcase led to two suspected thieves in Lower Franconia. The couple, aged 29 and 32, were on a train from Frankfurt am Main to Vienna on Wednesday, the federal police said on Friday. When he stopped at Würzburg Central Station, the 29-year-old saw two men suspiciously. He asked his wife to look for her suitcase, which was apparently missing. The couple informed the train attendant, who called the federal police.

A GPS tracker in the missing piece of luggage led the officials to accommodation for asylum seekers in Geldersheim (Schweinfurt district). The two alleged thieves, aged 21 and 24, were found through the surveillance cameras in the entrance area. During the search of the apartment, the police found parts of the stolen suitcase, the GPS tracker and items from other thefts. Both men were provisionally arrested and brought before the magistrate on Thursday. After that, they were taken into custody.
