Kochel am See (dpa / lby) – After the leaking of heating oil at the Kochelsee, probes of the soil indicate three contaminated places. This was announced by the district office in Bad Tölz on Friday. The investigations continued. The first results of the experts are expected in about ten days.
Experts with excavators and other equipment have been busy searching for possible contamination for a few days. Special soil samples should show how far the approximately 600 liters of oil penetrated the soil.
The heating oil seeped into the ground when filling the tank of a swimming pool in Kochel am See (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district) and partly got into the lake. On Saturday, an oil film had spread across the water surface. Exactly how this happened is still being investigated. For technical reasons, the heating oil is said to have seeped into an oil tank at the Kristall-Therme Trimini when it was being filled up.
Whether and to what extent the animal and plant world is affected is still being observed, so far neither diseased fish nor birds have been found.
Oil booms and barriers are still in place. As long as these are still on the lake, water sports enthusiasts should keep a large distance from the damage site.
