Munich (dpa / lby) – According to the Bavarian Minister of Health Klaus Holetschek (CSU), the federal government must better deal with the effects of the corona pandemic on children and young people. For this purpose, an inquiry commission should be formed on the subject of “Child Health in Pandemic Times”, said Holetschek of the German Press Agency in Munich.
“It is important to learn the lessons from the pandemic – because this is the only way we can be well prepared for future crises.” The commission of inquiry should therefore deal with the consequences of the corona pandemic on the physical and mental health of children and young people, said the CSU politician. “The goal should also be an interdisciplinary status report for the whole of Germany, in which the late and long-term consequences of the corona protection measures and a Covid 19 disease are scientifically analyzed.”
Political measures should ultimately be derived from the report to promote the health of children and young people and to combat the consequences of corona. “One thing is clear: at the beginning of 2020, quick action was often necessary. Looking back today, we know some things better. This must be analyzed carefully, conclusions drawn from it and written into the manual for future pandemics or similar situations,” said Holetschek. “The federal states have been ready for this for a long time. Now it’s the federal government’s turn.”
