Marcel Baer is back. That is also the only really positive news for TSV 1860 Munich. In the 3rd division, the “lions” slip completely unexpectedly.

Munich (dpa / lby) – After a forced break of three months, goalgetter Marcel Bär had of course imagined his comeback at TSV 1860 Munich in a completely different way. The “lions” wanted to fight for more valuable points in the fight for promotion to the 3rd Bundesliga from the previous table bottom SpVgg Bayreuth. Instead, after the embarrassing 0:1 (0:1) in the Bavarian-Franconian showdown on Saturday, coach Michael Köllner’s players slipped off the pitch dejectedly. “It’s extremely bitter for us,” Bär admitted after his disappointing return in terms of points.

A foot injury had stopped last season’s top scorer in the third division from the end of July. When he came on for Tim Rieder in the 80th minute in Upper Franconia, Bayern were still trailing behind. “It’s always difficult to get into a heated game,” Bär remarked, “but I felt good. I worked for three months, mentally and physically prepared.”

In the 86th minute, Bär even had a chance to equalize with his head, but the ball slipped off him. “We would have liked to have given our fans a win. That was a setback,” admitted the striker after the shock defeat.

The Bayreuthers fought self-sacrificingly. After a counterattack by Tobias Stockinger and Alexander Nollenberger, the former “lion” Jann George (41st minute) only had to push the ball in in front of 12,000 spectators. “The team really played a very, very good game,” coach Thomas Kleine praised his Bayreuth team, who are back in the non-relegation zone after their third win of the season.

For the first time in this third division season, the “Lions” did not have a goal of their own. At least they were lucky that the competition made a mistake on the 14th day of play. Leader SV Elversberg could not get more than 1:1 at the new table bottom FC Erzgebirge Aue, pursuers like 1. FC Saarbrücken and SV Wehen Wiesbaden also dropped points.

“The first few minutes were good, then we played too blandly in the build-up game. We actually had it under control last week, now we were lacking and then the opponent came up,” said Köllner, criticizing his team’s performance in the first Half. George’s goal particularly annoyed him. “We run into a counterattack and play offside four or five times,” he described the scene. “We are immensely disappointed.”
