Munich (dpa / lby) – The second round of collective bargaining in the Bavarian metal and electrical industry ended on Thursday without a result. The parties to the collective bargaining agreement want to meet for the third round in Augsburg on October 27, one day before the peace obligation expires. After that, warning strikes threaten.
IG Metall demands 8 percent more money. The employers have not yet submitted an offer. “There are still enormous differences,” emphasized the general manager of the Association of the Bavarian Metal and Electrical Industry, Bertram Brossardt. The companies are in a “widely existential situation”.
The whole system is shaking, said Brossardt. No offer has yet been submitted because there is still a need for broader discussion and time is needed to assess the situation. However, one understands the concerns of the employees who would be hit by inflation. It is not yet possible to say whether an offer will be presented at the next meeting.
IG Metall district leader and chief negotiator, Johann Horn, expressed his disappointment at the lack of an offer. In view of the rising cost of living, employers should not play for time. For the next meeting he expects an offer. Horn maintained his own demand. Finally, inflation continues to rise. If a good result is not reached before the end of the peace obligation, there will be warning strikes.
Even before the negotiations, IG Metall had demonstrated in Munich in support of their demands. According to the information provided by the union and the police, 3,000 people took part.
