Rottendorf (dpa / lby) – This year, the Franconia Cube goes to the folk music expert Carolin Pruy-Popp, the showman Lorenz Kalb and the puppeteer Thomas Glasmeyer. With them, the defining features of the Franconian character are expressed particularly clearly: the agile, the funny and the contradictory, as the government of Lower Franconia announced at the award ceremony on Friday in Rottendorf near Würzburg. The Franconia Cube is awarded to personalities from the three Franconian administrative districts every year on November 11th. The day is the name day of Saint Martin, who evangelized the Frankish kingdom. The award took place for the 37th time this year.

Carolin Pruy-Popp is the head of the information center for folk music in Franconia based in Bad Berneck in Upper Franconia. Showman Lorenz Kalb runs an event gastronomy with his wife in Nuremberg and is the chairman of the Southern German Showmen Association. The award winner from Lower Franconia, Thomas Glasmeyer, has made a name for himself with puppet theater – for more than three decades, the Würzburg artist has been delighting young and old with his plays.
