Nuremberg (dpa / lby) – “Club” trainer Robert Klauß is looking forward to the 269th Franconia derby between his 1st FC Nuremberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth with “great anticipation”. “Now when I think about how we take the bus to our stadium, how the fans stand on the street in their scarves and jerseys – that’s what we play football for,” enthused the football teacher before the explosive local duel in the 2nd Bundesliga Saturday (1 p.m.). “We’re really in the mood.”
40,000 FCN supporters had already secured a ticket by Thursday. “Our first derby in this constellation in front of spectators,” said Klauss, who has been training the Franconians for two years. Due to the corona pandemic, his previous two games against the cloverleaf took place in front of empty ranks. “Of course it’s a special game. There’s a cool atmosphere in the dressing room,” reported the coach before the second game of the season.
The Nurembergers don’t want to be guided by their emotions in the game against the Bundesliga relegated team. “It’s also about preparing in terms of content. With a good mix, it can be a great game for us,” said Klauss.
In addition to striker Pascal Köpke (rehabilitation training), the coach has to do without the injured midfielders Lukas Schlemmer and Lino Tempelmann (each with torn ankle ligaments). The departures of defender Asger Sörensen (Sparta Prague) and striker Manuel Schäffler (Dynamo Dresden) were also announced.
