Nuremberg (dpa / lby) – 1. FC Nuremberg has to continue the relegation battle in the 2nd Bundesliga for the time being without offensive player Lukas Schleimer. The 23-year-old tore an inner ligament in his knee in the 1-0 home game against SV Sandhausen at the weekend, as the “club” announced on Monday. Schlemmer will “not be available for the next few weeks,” it said. For the first time he will miss the team of coach Dieter Hecking this Saturday in the away game at Hamburger SV.
Enrico Valentini was also injured. The defender suffered a laceration on his knee during training on Sunday, which, according to FCN, had to be sewn up with several stitches. The 34-year-old will not be able to train with the team in the coming days. Valentini would have failed against HSV anyway because of a red suspension.
