Nuremberg (dpa / lby) – A police patrol car drove through an intersection in Nuremberg on Tuesday with a siren and blue lights flashing and collided with a crossing car. A policewoman in the patrol car was slightly injured in the accident, the police said in Nuremberg.
The patrol was deployed after being called to help search for a fugitive driver, the statement said. Both the police car and the crossing vehicle were no longer roadworthy and were towed away.
Police and other emergency vehicles may enter intersections with their sirens and blue lights on at red lights under certain conditions, but drivers are required to exercise extra care.
