Munich (dpa / lby) – Instead of a bomb, the federal police found copper pipes and taps that may have been stolen in a parked sports bag at Munich Central Station. As the officials reported on Friday, a train station visitor reported the abandoned bag in the incident on Thursday afternoon. The federal police blocked the area and cleared a nearby bakery. Special forces therefore moved to a “defusing operation”.
The bag was x-rayed but its contents could not be identified. Eventually, its 26-year-old owner turned up with cut copper pipes and faucets in his bag. According to the federal police, the man from Hungary could not or did not want to say who he had received the things from, so he is now being investigated on suspicion of theft. The 26-year-old was released, but officers confiscated pipes and faucets.
