Kempten/Garmisch-Partenkirchen (dpa/lby) – After landslides, lightning strikes and flooded streets on Thursday, there were only minor operations in southern Bavaria on Friday night. Nobody was injured. “There was a storm cell over Garmisch in the afternoon, but it was relatively quiet overnight,” said a spokesman for the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria. “There were just a few full basements.”

As of Thursday evening, there were no major operations in Swabia either, as the police headquarters announced. Towards Thursday evening, as expected by the German Weather Service, the thunderstorms had moved east. For Friday, the weather service expects occasional heavy rain at the edge of the Alps.
