Regensburg (dpa / lby) – After the embarrassing first round swatter at Karlsruher SC, SSV Jahn Regensburg is hot for revenge. “We have a score to settle,” announced Regensburg midfielder Maximilian Thalhammer before the floodlit game at KSC on Friday evening (6:30 p.m.). In front of a home crowd, Jahn lost 6-0 last August.

The Upper Palatinate have been waiting for a win in the 2nd Bundesliga since October. In the table, Regensburg is 17th before the 22nd matchday and is directly relegated. “Every game is important now. It doesn’t matter which opponent comes. We have to score points in every game,” demanded Thalhammer.

Regensburg drew self-confidence from the 1-1 draw against Hannover 96. “That has to give you a boost. Everyone saw that there was life in it and that we were able to take on anyone,” said coach Mersad Selimbegovic. The disastrous appearance in the first half of the season against KSC is over: “KSC only gained three points for this game”.
