Munich (dpa / lby) – In the fight against hate messages on the Internet, the Bavarian police searched six objects in the Free State. For example, eight suspects are said to have used signs of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations or publicly called for crimes, as the Munich Attorney General and the State Criminal Police Office jointly announced. The searches on Wednesday morning were part of the 8th nationwide day of action against hate postings.
For example, it was said that one of the suspects is said to have posted a swastika, while another is said to have written the comment “Put the bomb on it and clean it up” under a video of the G7 summit. “It has nothing to do with freedom of expression when hate comments on social networks exceed the limit of criminal liability,” said the President of the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office, Harald Pickert. He advocated reporting hate postings to the police. The responsible prosecutor at the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office, Teresa Ott, said that the anonymity on the Internet was only supposed.
The suspects in the Free State are five men and three women between the ages of 28 and 72. The investigators searched buildings in Munich, Nuremberg, Dachau, Pfaffenhoffen a.d. Ilm, Ingolstadt and Aschaffenburg. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, 91 measures were taken in 14 federal states across Germany on Wednesday. Accordingly, the number of cases of hate postings recorded by the police is declining. However, this is no reason to give the all-clear, because many posts are not displayed.
