Munich (dpa/lby) – Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has described the anniversary of the start of the war in Ukraine as a “bad day”, but also as a day of respect for the people of Ukraine. Bavaria stands by the country.
“We took in more people in Bavaria than France,” said Söder on the sidelines of a border police event in Waidhaus (Neustadt an der Waldnaab district). The day before, Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) had declared that around 150,000 Ukrainians had been admitted to Bavaria since the beginning of the war.
“We are also in favor of supporting Ukraine with arms, because in the end our freedom in Ukraine will also be defended,” said the Prime Minister. Ukraine must win the war.
