Nuremberg (dpa / lby) – 1. FC Nuremberg started the new football year with a performance test. Captain Christopher Schindler’s team first completed the obligatory lactate test on Monday at the Max Morlock Stadium. Then there were further examinations and a unit in the weight room.
However, new signing Benjamin Goller (Werder Bremen) and striker Pascal Köpke were absent due to illness. The lactate test is a running test at the end of which blood is drawn from the players. This allows insights to be gained for endurance training. “The boys are all in a good mood and motivated. The values ????will give us important insights and form the start of four weeks of preparation,” said coach Markus Weinzierl.
On Tuesday (10.30 a.m.) the first public training session of the second division soccer team in the new year is scheduled. From January 8th to 15th, the Franconians will move into a training camp in Belek (Turkey) around coach Weinzierl. On January 29th, the eleventh-placed side will play their second half of the season at home against FC St. Pauli.
