Erlangen (dpa / lby) – According to the authorities, the water quality of the bathing lakes in Bavaria is almost without exception very good this summer. In the current bathing season, only 7 of the 1741 water samples so far were microbiologically objectionable, the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) announced on Tuesday in Erlangen. Even the heat does not have a negative effect on the hygienic quality of the bathing water, as this is not dependent on the temperature.
However, some lakes are prone to mass proliferation of cyanobacteria, often called blue-green algae. These could, for example, grow strongly with higher nutrient content and elevated temperatures. This can be recognized by blue-green streaks or cloudy water. According to the LGL, bathing bans and warnings should be observed.
