Munich (dpa/lby) – Important committee meetings in the Bavarian state parliament will continue to be broadcast live on the Internet in the future – after the Corona crisis. In view of stubborn resistance, especially in the CSU, not all meetings are streamed and not completely either – but all reports from ministers including discussions, all expert hearings and technical discussions. The state parliament passed a corresponding change in the rules of procedure on Tuesday in Munich. All meeting rooms are to be gradually equipped with the permanently installed video technology required for this.
Most recently, the coalition had blocked the continuation of the live broadcasts of the committee meetings that had been established since the beginning of the Corona crisis – in particular because of individual bitter opponents in the CSU. The opposition, on the other hand, called for even more streaming and thus even more transparency. You have nothing to hide, they said. However, the CSU and Free Voters rejected this – for example with reference to the desired working atmosphere in the committee meetings.
Apart from the live transmissions on the Internet, certain people can generally and continuously connect to the meetings: for example, representatives of the state government, civil servants, experts, journalists from the Bavarian state press, employees of the state parliament office and the parliamentary groups.
Petitioners, on the other hand, must in principle appear in the state parliament again in the future. They can only be connected if, for serious reasons, they “are not able to travel to the state parliament or are only able to do so under unreasonable conditions”.
At the end of March, the majority of the CSU and Free Voters in Parliament rejected a motion by the Greens, SPD and FDP to allow citizens to permanently monitor all committee work digitally. The state parliament had recently returned to the pre-corona state.
