Hengersberg (dpa / lby) – After a raid on a Lower Bavarian construction company on suspicion of illegal disposal of construction waste, the police and public prosecutor’s office in Passau have expanded their investigations. A 31-year-old from Landshut, who is said to have business relationships with the company, is now suspected of illegally disposing of demolition material, as the investigators announced on Thursday.
According to the information, the man is suspected of illegally storing 500 tons of demolition material in the vicinity of a local recreation area. During searches, the investigators also found “a picture with child pornographic content” that he is said to have sent to six acquaintances between the ages of 28 and 41. These are now also being investigated.
In the summer it became known that those responsible for the construction company from Hengersberg in Lower Bavaria should have earned millions with the illegal disposal of contaminated construction waste. As the Passau public prosecutor and the police reported at the time, there was a raid on three districts in the region because of this allegation. Business premises and apartments were searched. More than 150 police officers and prosecutors were on duty.
According to the police and public prosecutor’s office, the accused company managers are said to have not correctly disposed of road surface and other demolition waste, which was contaminated with asbestos for several years, in southern Bavaria. This is said to have saved several million euros that would have been incurred if the waste had been properly disposed of. The company announced at the time that the affected subsidiary was cooperating with the authorities.
