Munich (dpa / lby) – The federal police arrested a 54-year-old American at Munich Airport on suspicion of possession of child pornographic material. The man wanted to leave for Atlanta (USA) on Monday, as the federal police announced on Tuesday. A judge issued an arrest warrant Tuesday, a spokesman said. The man is now in custody.
A torn-out passport page made the officials at the border control at Munich airport suspicious. They finally found the paper with the note that the American had already been convicted of a sexual offense against a minor in the man’s belongings. The officials then also discovered “clear photos” on his cell phone.
Since 2017, the so-called Megan’s Law has enabled the US authorities to enter a note in the passport of convicted sex offenders.
