Munich (dpa / lby) – Twelve people were injured in an electrical accident when they jumped from a freight train in Munich’s Trudering station. A man, a teenager and a child were taken to the hospital, a spokesman for the Munich Federal Police Directorate said on Tuesday. The adult was the most seriously injured, but contrary to initial assessments, he was not in mortal danger.
As the spokesman said, the overall circumstances suggest that the freight train could have been used for illegal entry. In Bavaria, refugees are repeatedly discovered who have crossed the border on freight trains. The railway line was closed for hours.
The freight train had made a stop at Trudering when the twelve people got off the train. An “electric charge” was formed in the process. It was initially unclear whether it was an arc or someone had hit a power line with an object. The number of people involved initially differed.
The nationality of those involved, three of whom fled before the police and rescue workers arrived, remained open for the time being.
