Augsburg (dpa / lby) – Midfielder Niklas Dorsch is satisfied that FC Augsburg have chosen Enrico Maaßen as their new coach. “He’s a very good choice for our team. We have a lot of young, hungry players who need a coach who can steer them,” the soccer professional told the “Augsburger Allgemeine” (Friday) about Markus Weinzierl’s successor. Maassen, who last coached Borussia Dortmund’s U23s, is an ambitious coach with a lot of quality, said Dorsch.

The U21 European champion is on the mend after breaking his collarbone in the last game in the Bundesliga. “Everything is looking very good. I’m very happy with how the healing process is going,” said the 24-year-old playmaker. He has already started running. Individual training is scheduled to start on Monday in Augsburg.

FCA will start their pre-season preparations on June 20th. “It will be a while before I can fight duels again,” reported Dorsch. However, he is not worried. “It’s just a broken bone that hopefully will grow together even more.”
