Munich (dpa / lby) – Basketball national player Isaac Bonga from FC Bayern can imagine a return to the North American professional league NBA. “Of course the dream of the NBA is still there,” said the 23-year-old winger, who moved to Munich from the Toronto Raptors in August, in a ran interview. Bonga joined the NBA from the Frankfurt Skyliners in 2018 and played 143 main round and five playoff games for the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Toronto.
“Right now I’m in a phase of my life where I want to create stability first,” said Bonga. At the end of his time in Toronto, he was no longer the first choice. “Whether I’ll return to the NBA in three or four years is difficult to answer right now. It’s also a way of staying here for the rest of my career. I’m enjoying every moment to the fullest and I’m having a lot of fun again Basketball.”
In Munich, the former teammate of Lakers superstar LeBron James was initially out for more than three months due to an injury. “Sport is my passion, so at some point the situation wasn’t so carefree anymore,” said Bonga, for whom the move to the Bundesliga is “a step back home”.
“One of the main reasons for the move was to have my family closer to me again,” he explained. “Now they don’t have to fly eight hours and then take the train for four hours to see me.”
