Munich (dpa / lby) – Following the Berlin model, the Bavarian SPD is also demanding a permanent 29-euro ticket for the Free State. “Berlin has introduced a 29-euro ticket. Bavaria can do that too,” said state chairman Florian von Brunn on Monday in Munich. “The 9-euro ticket was a great success and people are waiting for a sensible follow-up solution.”
With a view to financing issues, SPD General Secretary Arif Tasdelen emphasized that the federal government is providing 1.5 billion euros in funding for a successor to the 9-euro ticket that expired in September. In addition, the governing coalition of the CSU and Free Voters had already promised an annual 365-euro ticket in the past – that’s around 29 euros a month.
For Berlin, on the other hand, there should initially only be a time-limited 29-euro ticket for local transport. It is only valid within the city from October to December and cannot be purchased for individual months. The ticket is intended to be an interim solution until a nationwide local transport ticket is expected to be available in early 2023. The large transport associations in Bavaria had also announced further price increases at the turn of the year.
