Munich (dpa / lby) – After 15 years at FC Bayern, the Bundesliga soccer team says goodbye to central defender Carina Wenninger (32). “Carina is not only a long-standing and well-deserved player with the FCB women, but also a great personality with a great character, who has always spoken out for FC Bayern and lived the values ????of the club,” said Karin Danner, department head of the FCB Women in a club announcement on Thursday.
At her request, the Austrian national player loaned the Munich team to AS Roma in the summer of 2022. As Bayern have now announced, Wenninger will not return after the season as originally planned. “In the past few weeks, I’ve realized that I want to remember FC Bayern the way I did when I left,” said the defender.
But she doesn’t want to stay away from Munich entirely. “Without question: You will all see me again and again in Munich. As a former player, who can say with great pride that she was a part of this wonderful club.” Wenninger can look back on 213 wins in 303 competitive games, three championship titles and one cup win at Bayern.
